Movies Synopses.

1. The title of the movies is Gone with the wind. It is directed by Victor Fleming (director) it’s a Drama (Genre). It takes place in Clayton County, Georgia and Atlanta during the American Civil War and Reconstruction (Setting). Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh and Thomas Mitchell are in it (Actor/Actress) It´s about an American classic in which a manipulative woman and a roguish man carry on a turbulent love affair in the American south during the Civil War and Reconstruction. (Plot). In the End Scarlett makes it back home to Tara only to find her mother dead, her father sliding into madness, and her beloved plantation a looted shell. (Climax).

The title of the movies is Matrix. It is directed by Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski (director) it’s an Action (Genre). It takes place in an imaginary world (Setting). Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss are in it (Actor/Actress) It´s about a computer hacker who discover the true nature of his reality and that  the earth is dominated by sentient machines, who have turned on humans and control them (Plot). In the End Neo destroys Agent Smith and  he realize that he is the one. (Climax).

The title of the movies is Terminator. It is directed by James Cameron (director) it’s an Action-Thriller (Genre). It takes place in 2029 and then in Los Angeles in 1989 (Setting). Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton y Michael Biehn are in it (Actor/Actress) It´s about a cyborg that looks like a human, is sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor, but Kyle Resse is sent to stop and kill it. (Plot). In the End the Terminator is caught in the blast of an exploding gasoline tank truck, still partially functional, the Terminator drags itself toward Sarah by its remaining arm. She leads it into a hydraulic press and crushes it, causing it to deactivate. (Climax).

The title of the movies is Pearl Harbor. It is directed by Michael Bay (director) it’s an Action-Drama (Genre). It takes place Second World War (Setting). Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale and Josh Hartnett are in it (Actor/Actress) It´s about the story of the life of two best friends, Danny and Rafe, and their love lives as they go off to join the war when  squadrons of Japanese war planes screamed across the skies of a Hawaiian paradise and launched a surprise attack on the U.S. armed forces at Pearl Harbor the infamous day that jolted America from peaceful isolationism to total war and altered the course of world history. (Plot). In the End they fight in the war but Danny dies and Rafe come back to live with Evelyn and the little Danny, the son of the best friend of Rafe. (Climax).

The title of the movies is Die Hard. It is directed by John McTiernan (director) it’s an Action-Thriller (Genre). It takes place in New York (Setting). Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman and Bonnie Bedelia is in it (Actor/Actress) It´s about a New York cop John McClane have to atack the terrorists who hold hostages in an LA office building. (Plot). In the End McClane arrives at the roof, dispatches the terrorists, including Karl, escorting the hostages, and scares the hostages back downstairs before the roof explodes. The subsequent explosion engulfs the FBI helicopters and kills everyone on board. (Climax).



Monsters Vs. Aliens (2009) Review

Monsters vs. Aliens is a 2009 3-D film, produced by DreamWorks Animation. This is an entertaining movie for all the family. The directors was Rob Letterman and Conrad Vernon. The writers was Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky. I recommend this movie, that is a great and funny story.

The story begging when Susan is hit by a meteorite on her wedding day to weather reporter Derek, causing her to grow into a giant. For that reason the U.S. government capture her and sent to a secret government prison with other monsters: B.O.B., Insectosaurus, Dr. Cockroach and the Missing Link. Then, the Earth is invaded by a giant robot, so the General Monger and the President of the United States decide to use the monsters to fight the robot and save Earth, and promise them freedom after the mission.The monsters succeeded to defeat the robot. Susan, now free, goes to talk with Derek, but he breaks up with her. After that, she is abducted by de Aliens, who kill Insectosaurus when he tries to save her. But B.O.B., Dr. Cockroach, and the Missing rescue Susan in the spaceship, and they turn on the self-destruct sequence. The monsters leave the spaceship and are rescued by General Monger on the back of the revived Insectosaurus, who now is a butterfly. The monsters are the heros of the city, and Susan still giant, but she accept this condition and her mission as a member of the monsters.

¿DO YOU THINK THE STUDENTS SHOULD BE ALLOWED

TO USE THEIR BB IN CLASS?

There are lots of points of view about this matter. First of all, I think that everyone is free to do whatever they consider is correct, as long as it doesn’t affect the rest of the people. Considering that we are in college, we are supposed to be mature enough to know what is wrong and what is right. However BlackBerrys are a distraction during class, and is an unnecessary instrument for the learning environment that college represents.

Even though, I think this prohibition should be applied on certain cases. In first place, if the students are using their BlackBerry, but the teacher isn’t paying attention to this fact, or if they use it during a few moments and their attention isn´t being affected, that’s not a reason to rest points to the student`s grades or interrupt the class, because it creates an uncomfortable situation in the classroom for the other students who are focus in the class. In addition, if some students have an urgency to make a call or have an emergency or something related, they must leave the classroom to do it, and that shouldn’t be a problem for the teacher, as long as is not made during several times in the class.

In conclusion, students are in class to listen to the teacher, establish relations with their classmates, engage their brains with learning, reading, writing, math, and participating in activities and debates. So students shouldn´t be allowed to use their BB in class, but this shouldn’t mean that they can’t see their BB for a moment, or make a call and the teacher shouldn’t interrupt the class because one student is using it. But in any case the student has to respect the rule and apply it.
